Follies is over. I'm glad because I'll get sleep again, but I'm also really kind of sad. Freshman Follies 2004 was the last student production that I will be a part of at ACU. In my four and a half years, I've worked with four Sing Songs and two Follies. The OSP has been a huge part of my ACU experience. The freshmen this year were particularly fabulous to work with, especially cool Casey Lewis!! I already miss it. My large chorus was so amazing. I'm so proud of those kids and so incredibly priveleged to get to know them. I've gotten so many compliments on them, so if you're one of my rockers reading this, know how awesome you were!
The music from this year's show was so cool, and this is one of the songs from the show that I instantly adopted as a new favorite. One of my little large chorus boys (who is INCREDIBLY talented) was part of this number. The song is not only beautiful, but it has great lyrics for this special time in the life of freshmen. Also, I've felt some of these feelings lately as well. I just wanted to share it with you, and I seriously recommend downloading the song if you're into the Bluegrass sound...or even if you're not.
"When You Come Back Down"
Nickel Creek
You got to leave me now, you got to go alone
You got to chase a dream, one that's all your own
Before it slips away
When you're flyin' high, take my heart along
I'll be the harmony to every lonely song
That you learn to play
When you're soarin' through the air
I'll be your solid ground
Take every chance you dare
I'll still be there
When you come back down
When you come back down
I'll keep lookin' up, awaitin' your return
My greatest fear will be that you will crash and burn
And I won't feel your fire
I'll be the other hand that always holds the line
Connectin' in between your sweet heart and mine
I'm strung out on that wire
And I'll be on the other end, To hear you when you call
Angel, you were born to fly, If you get too high
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll catch you when you fall
[Bridge:]
Your memory's the sunshine every new day brings
I know the sky is calling
Angel, let me help you with your wings
When you're soarin' through the air
I'll be your solid ground
Take every chance you dare
I'll still be there
When you come back down
Take every chance you dare,
I'll still be there
When you come back down
When you come back down
On another note, this weekend has also been an exciting one on campus because of Bid Night. My brother is a sophomore this year and he got his bid to join Frater Sodalis, the brother club of my own social club, GATA. I am so incredibly proud of him for this and I'm excited to watch him go through the difficult, yet incredibly rewarding process of pledging. The Frats took 34 pledges this year, which is a 29 person increase from last year's final pledge class of five and the largest class they've had in many years. I'm super excited for the Frats, and I can't wait to see the friendships and awesome experiences Brett gains from his time in club. I love you, Brat Walker!

That's one of my favorite songs! My favorite part is in those first few lines "You got to leave me now, you got to go alone... You got to chase a dream, one that's all your own... before it slips away." This is so true.
The older we get, the more important it becomes to chase our dreams and, inevitably, we leave many people behind in that once-in-a-lifetime chase. Though, if meant to be, these people always seem to be there to catch us when we fall... because, after all, we all fall sometimes, we were falling before we were ever learning to walk.
